What Does Destin Offer New Residents?

If you're considering moving to Destin, Florida, it's important to know what the city offers. This area of Florida is most known for the beautiful white sand beaches, golf courses and excellent weather throughout the year. However, there's more to Destin than just what's found in the travel guides.

The city covers about eight square miles and gives residents the small town feel with big city amenities. This is an excellent place to spend your retirement, raise a family or enjoy the peaceful life near some of the best beaches in the world.

Residents enjoy a dozen public access points to the many beautiful beaches, along with potential private access points. Many of the top amenities are found off Emerald Coast Parkway, which is the main road. The city center is found in the western part of the city and many golf courses are scattered throughout the area including the Kelly Plantation Gold Course and the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort course.

The Destin Harbor is one of the most popular areas with plenty of restaurants, hotels and shops surrounding the harbor. Other shopping destinations include Destin Commons and the Silver Sands Outlet Mall. Both of these provide high-end goods with discount prices, along with restaurants and a movie theater.

Other attractions found in Destin include:

  • The Destin Bridge - Great for fishing and surrounded by bait-and-tackle shops.
  • Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier - Open daily for fishing and provides direct access to the Gulf.
  • Fishing Charters - A number of companies offer deep-sea fishing and other types of charter fishing trips.
  • HarborWalk Village - A top attraction full of shops, restaurants and more.

There's something for everybody found in Destin, Florida. Whether you want to enjoy the many beaches, great golf courses, excellent fishing or Big Kahuna's Water and Adventure Park, everybody can find something they like about the city.
