The Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic is coming to the Baytown Marina June 19th through 23rd. This is one of the top ten big money tournaments in the world and a growing tournament in the Gulf Coast area. The tournament is sanctioned by the World Billfish Series and it's for serious anglers looking to win a large payout and receive the spoils only the victor deserves.
The tournament is a "modified release" tournament and provides release points for blue marlin, sailfish, white marlin and spearfish. Cash categories also include tuna, wahoo and dolphin. Individual angler trophies and many other awards will be given out. Along with the fishing tournament, the event features plenty of family fun and other events.
Facts About the Tournament
Sanddestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Florida will be the host facility with plenty of the anglers staying on the resort. The entry fee for the tournament is $5,000 for the base entry and a $2,500 entry for the Release Division There's no limit on the number of boats or the size and the tournament is open to both charter and private boats.

The tournament was started in 2003 and featured 45 teams with over $320,000 in cash awards. Last year's tournament featured 38 teams, 184 anglers and over $575,000 in cash awards. The highest purse was paid out in 2008 with over $1.5 paid and over $437,000 going to the first place team.
