The Destin Harbor Boardwalk has been a project in the making for over 15 years. This community project was initiated to provide easier access to the beaches for the public. The first phase was completed about a year ago and opened up public access over about a one-half mile stretch of beaches on the northern edge of the harbor.

Residents and visitors enjoy the walk along the boardwalk and the harbor now provides easier access for local fishing boats, many water activities and plenty of restaurants. With the completion of the renovation project, the boardwalk has become a center for new events. It all started back in 1830 when Captain Leonard Destin founded the little fishing village later known as the luckiest in the world.

Not only is the Destin Boardwalk a popular area for fishing, but it's also very popular for those spending time at the beach. The project opened up many access points and plenty of water activities found their way to the area including jet skis, pontoon boards and many others. This has become a very popular area for local restaurants, as well, including AJ's Seafood, The Boathouse Oyster Bar and Fisherman's Warf.

Many other establishments are in the process of moving into the area or recently opened for business. The boardwalk area is growing and becoming one of the most popular family attractions in the entire Destin area. Some of the activities found along the Destin Harbor Boardwalk include:

  • Parasailing
  • Sailing charters
  • Snorkeling trips
  • Scuba diving
  • Dolphin tours
  • Boat rentals
  • Jet Ski rentals
  • The Destin History & Fishing Museum

Along with all the activities, the boardwalk features a great nightlife with plenty of places to hang out near the beach. If you want to enjoy one of the most popular attractions in Destin, make sure you spend time at the Destin Harbor Boardwalk.
