Destin, Florida is one of the top travel destinations in the country. Many families visit and don't want to leave. This leads to families relocating to the area every year and one of the main reasons they come here is the state parks.
With plenty of parks to choose from, most providing beach access, you can spend the day at one of the parks and the beach. Here are the top state parks found throughout the area.
Henderson Beach State Park
By far the most popular and one of the best beaches throughout the area, this is a great place for families. Over 6,000 feet of beaches make up the shoreline on the Gulf of Mexico and plenty of natural features, including scrub oaks, sand pines and dune rosemary provide beautiful views. Walk along the boardwalk, spend time fishing, enjoy the sun or take a swim in the ocean.
Eden Gardens State Park
A unique park with a two-story house featuring beautiful white columns, Eden Gardens provides plenty of fun for everybody. This is a beautiful area with moss-draped oak trees, garden areas and plenty of other features. You can find Eden Gardens in Santa Rosa Beach.
Topsail Hill Preserve
Another beautiful natural area found in Santa Rosa Beach with plenty of secluded beach area is Topsail Hill Preserve. This is the place for dunes with some as tall as 25 feet. Three dune lakes are found here, which provide excellent freshwater fishing and a place for boating.
Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou
Plenty of boating and fishing happens here every year with one of the best boat launches in the area. Families enjoy fishing in both saltwater and freshwater, along with plenty of other great park features.
All four of these parks are close to Destin and great for a day trip. Many other parks and beaches provide great amenities and features throughout the area, as well.
