Joan Vienot recently set up her first exhibit in the area. This may not seem like a big deal, but for a painter it is. Joan has been an artist for as long as she can remember and is finally putting her work out there for the world to see.

She started by earning a degree and becoming a teacher at the high school level. From there, she became more involved in many artistic endeavors. Joan moved to South Walton in the 1980s and opened a campground. Through it all, she kept painting and was actually features in the Susan Foster Art Studio when it opened.

Vienot has run many different businesses, but has always remained an artist throughout. Last year, she vowed to devote more time to her art and set aside two days a week specifically for painting.

Grayton BeachWhen you first arrive at Grayton Beach, you may notice the sign, which sums up the entire area. This sign says, "Nice Dogs, Friendly Folks" and that's the truth. This beach community is very casual and provides plenty of friendly fun.

This area of the Gulf Coast gets its' name because of the blue lupine flowers and the very tall dunes. The area is very laid back and provides all types of beauty from the dunes to the beaches. Most of the homes in the area are from the 1960s and include everything from beach cottages to luxury homes.

Outdoor activities are found throughout with plenty of close by golf courses, the Timpoochee Trail nearby and the very rare dunes lakes throughout the area. Many residents enjoy water activities and a number of other outdoor recreation opportunities.

brewery_250The South Walton area is full of beer enthusiasts and they have all wanted to see a local brewery become a part of the area. This dream is getting closer every single day with the Grayton Beer Company looking to open very soon.

It took 11 months, but the company finally received nine large stainless steel tanks for fermentation as their location on Highway 98. Each of these tanks is 18 feet in size and will hold up to 22,000 pints of beer. This will allow the Grayton Beer Company to brew as much as 150,000 bottles of delicious beer at one time.

Other vessels have been delivered to help with the hot and the cold water storage needed for brewing craft beer. A grist case was also delivered, which will hold the grain and make brewing much easier.

The Flutterby Festival is an annual event found in the panhandle of Florida and this year it will be held at Rosemary Beach on November 9th and 10th. This is a special event for the area with plenty of fun activities for the entire family to enjoy.

Fall Festival - October 25th from 10am to 4pm

The fall festival will provide one of the best events of the season. This event will be held at the Topsail Hill Preserve State Park and will give you and the entire family plenty of fun to enjoy. With plenty of food, games for kids, activities for all ages and the haunted tram ride, you can enjoy all type of fun. Some age restrictions do apply to the haunted train ride, but there is certainly something here for everybody.
